Happy Monday! The Milk Bar Monday ladies are back at it this week and have a special recipe for you (and our last Milk Bar cookie recipe!) the blueberries and cream cookies.

I first tried the blueberries and cream cookie when I was in NYC in September. I dragged my family to the location in midtown to fulfill my Milk Bar dreams.

While in the actual store I decided to make it worth my while. I got one of each cookie available (the blueberries & cream, compost, corn, and cornflake), a slice of crack pie and a cup of the kaffir lime and caramel soft serve… I wasn’t holding anything back. [Read more...]

We are back!

I know it’s be a little while since I’ve posted …school tends to get in the way of blogging… but when I received an email from Audra asking us if we were ready to bring Christina Tosi back into our lives, I couldn’t resist.

As I’m sure you know by now, the Momofuku Milk Bar is one of my all time favorite cookbooks and the group we have created around it is totally awesome!

So I’m happy to say that we are back at it, and as a result you will have more wonderful Milk Bar recipes to taunt your tastebuds.

Jacqueline eased us back in with her recipe choice, Tosi’s take on a delicious Peanut Butter Cookie.

Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookies {Milk Bar Monday 5/21}

You know what day it is…Milk Bar Monday!

Today our host is Averie of Averie Cooks and she picked the Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookies.

So far, this is my favorite cookie recipe we have made from the book. The Compost & Confetti Cookies were definitely delicious, but the cornflake cookies were buttery and not too sweet. I couldn’t get enough of them!

They reminded me of a rice crispy treat and chocolate chip cookie combined.

I was particularly fond of the cornflake crunch. It was buttery, crunchy and strangely addictive.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Mexican vanilla

My parents recently visited Mexico and were nice enough to bring me back a bottle of tequila (in the coolest bottle ever!) and mexican vanilla.

After giving the vanilla a whiff I couldn’t wait to use it. It smelled different that any vanilla I’ve had.

The aroma was intoxicating and really warm, and comforting. And almost creamy in comparison to the madagascar vanilla I made for Christmas.

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with vanilla first. So I brought it down to South Carolina with me. I figured I would want to bake something over spring break anyways.

A day or two into break the boyfriend asked if there was anything sweet in the house, I said no but that I would make something. He suggested chocolate chip cookies.

Chocolate chip cookies it was.

I was excited to try the vanilla in a classic cookie like this. I figured it would be easier to tell the difference from the vanilla I usually use.

The recipe I used is from Alice at Savory Sweet Life.

It’s so good you don’t even need a mixer. It had been awhile since I made a batch of cookies by hand, but it was a good workout.

When was the last time you whipped up a batch of cookies?
