A Quick Glimpse into the Food of Sint Maarten

While on vacation I tried to take pictures of as much of the food as possible. After all, food is the most important part about traveling.

Well, food and waking up to a beautiful view of neighboring islands.

Back to the food.

After one of our first nights out in Philipsburg my dad had a craving for dessert and wanted to stop into the one of the hotel’s restaurants, Ocean. My sister and I didn’t try and talk him out of it, we were definitely going to help him eat something sweet.

Ocean had a simple dessert menu, but everything sounded good.

We decided on a tropical banana split and an intensely chocolate cake.

The banana split was huge! They did not skimp on scoop portions, which was great because I thought the French influence was going to kick in and our American appetites wouldn’t be satisfied.

The sundae came with a softball sized scoop of chocolate ice cream, strawberry ice cream, and coconut ice cream.

Finally Home!

sintmaarten

So sorry for the lack of holiday posting this past few weeks. Things have been crazy here!

Before leaving for the enchanting island of Sint Maarten I came down with some sort of flu….It was quite terrible, I won’t lie to you.

Leaving for family vacation with the flu is possibly one of the worst things ever. I was so bummed! Things turned out for the best though, I didn’t feel too terrible when I saw the beautiful caribbean sea! I imagine that sight would make anyone feel better.

If you haven’t heard of Sint Maarten or don’t know very much about it i’ll give you a quick little overview…

Sint Maarten is one of the Virgin Islands and is ruled by 2 different nations, France and the Netherlands. It is a mountainous island (formed by a volcano), it doesn’t grow anything, and it is surprisingly small. You could drive around the whole island in 2-4 hours, of course this depends on how much picture taking and eating you do along the way. Depending on where you are on the island you can see Saba, St. Barths, or Anguilla.

I was lucky enough to spend Christmas there. It was a great change for my family since we usually see snow this time of year!

Hopefully everyone had an amazing holiday, I know I did! And now that you are all caught up, I promise to post some food porn pictures later!
