One of the first items I ever heard of in relation to the Momofuku Milk Bar was the Crack Pie.
Since the day I joined #milkbarmonday I have been looking forward to making the infamous pie. I must say, It does not disappoint!
You start off by making a thick and buttery oatmeal cookie. Good enough to replace your old standby oatmeal cookie recipe.
Crumble it up, mix it with butter and brown sugar and press it into a pan. Then you fill the crust with a silky sweet custard-like mixture.
Bake it all up. Freeze it. Serve it cold with powdered sugar and escape into a sugarcoma.
I did have a few issues with this pie.
First, my slices did not want to come out of the pan. So we ended up just eating it straight out of the pie pan with a fork. Second, I wish there would have been more cookie crust! Maybe it would have been better had I used a food processor…
The recipe makes 2 of these bad boys, so unless you plan on eating all the sugar alone or giving one away I recommend cutting the recipe in half.

I just HAD to go and have one (five) more bites of this from the fridge after looking at yours… not a good start to the day (or EXCELLENT start to the day, depending). Love this recipe. Love.
I loooooved the oatmeal cookie crust and wished there was more. That also could have been because I couldn’t stop eating the cookie before grinding it up haha. Yum!!
I felt like there wasn’t enough cookie for the crust either. I might have snacked too much on it but will make more next time. And there will be a next time. I loved this pie! Yours looks amazing!
Your picture looks incredible! I wish there was more crust too. I think if I didn’t have to divide it between 2 pies then it would be better.
Nothing wrong with eating pie straight from the pan!! haha. I’ve heard so much about this pie and would love to try it. Definitely going on my to-make list.
Looks wonderful and I would so eat it right from the pie tin too!!
You had me at “Crack Pie.”
I made the full recipe for the crust and used about 2/3rds of it for 1 pie …basically I halved the filling recipe but not the crust recipe and was glad I did it that way (fluke good luck) b/c I needed more than half of the crust. The crust with the added butter was good enough to eat on it’s own
Yum! This looks like one amazing pie!
Erin, this pie looks amazing. I love custard pies. I bet the oatmeal crust is mind-blowing.
Any recipe that starts with “crack” you know is amazing! This sounds incredible, as do the other milkbarmonday recipes you ladies put together evey week! Yum!!
Thank you Lacy!
I think this recipe sounds amazing! AND eating out of the pie tin sounds like my kind of dessert!!! Hugs, Terra
As always when I come here, I want to bake this right now. I need to get invited to more parties coming up soon or I am in BIG trouble!! Thanks, Erin!
