Sweet & Salty Brownies

brownies

Brownies are by far the best dessert for a chocoholic.

I know. How dare I make such a bold statement.

But, it is true. Brownies = chocolate bliss.

Brownies can be dressed up with fancy salts, a layer of ganache, even your favorite buttercream.

Over the summer I made a batch of ridiculous brownies. I called them brownie cookie caramel bars, but they are now known as slutty brownies.

I thought those were the best brownies ever. As good as they are, it’s like eating a brick.

These sweet and salty brownies are balanced. Salty caramel layered into a fudgey brownie batter creates a chewy chocolate bliss.

Enjoy with a glass of cold milk, a cup of coffee, or do like I do and mix brownie chunks into some ice cream!

Red Velvet Cream Cheese Swirl Bars {Guest Post by Greens and Chocolate}

Red Velvet Cream Cheese Swirl Bars

Hello! Today I have Taylor from Greens and Chocolate guesting posting for me! You can find her on Twitter @greenschocolate – enjoy!

When I saw that Erin was looking for a guest blogger, I jumped at the opportunity.

However, when taking more time to think about what I would share I have to admit, I was a stumped. I mean, Erin is so creative when it comes to her baking and every single thing makes my mouth water. How could I ever make something that would interest her readers as much as the treats she makes?!

Well, I think I’ve done it. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I turned to a recipe that I made last Valentine’s Day that was red, festive, and downright delicious!

I am a huge fan of everything red velvet and these bars are no exception. [Read more...]

Brownie Cookie Caramel Bars

bar 2

A few months ago, when I was clicking through the blog hop on a Secret Recipe Club reveal day, I stumbled upon this decedent dessert. The recipe I saw was on A Bountiful Kitchen but is originally seen on Betcha Can’t Eat Just One. I bow my head to both of these ladies for sharing this amazing creation with the food world.

I stopped and stared at the first picture… It had a layers upon layers of deliciousness. Chocolate chip cookie dough topped with Oreo’s, caramel sauce and brownie batter baked in to a bar of perfection? Sign me up! There isn’t much more you can ask for from a dessert.

This recipe was on my mind for weeks. I was craving every component the recipe had to offer. And finally I caved. I rushed home from a long day a work and whipped up a huge pan of the bars.

Lucky for us, the recipe is super simple. Cookie dough, store bought caramel, Oreo’s, and brownie batter. You could use mixes instead of making your cookie dough and brownie batter, but we all know it’s not the same! Either way I promise you won’t be disappointed. [Read more...]

Rice Crispy Treats

top of rice crispy treat 2

Sometimes it’s hard to change a classic. You want the new one to be exciting and different. But it’s just not the same. You just can’t get past how good the original is.

That is how I feel about the classic rice crispy treat. The boxed ones may be convenient, but you know they don’t compare to the homemade version.

The homemade version is chewier, stickier, and full of butter. Why not take the extra 10 minutes to make the batch at home?

Now that you are convinced you have to make some at home, here’s the recipe. And I promise it’s the best.

Feel free to make some additions (chocolate chips or m&m’s are good!) but you still measure everything properly!

Don’t just pour in the whole box of rice crispies, and just toss in the marshmallows and butter. Take the 30 seconds to measure out the cereal and count the marshmallows. Trust me on this one.

Now since I feel you must know, I doubled this recipe. Completely unnecessary, but you can feed an army with all the rice crispy treats you’ll make. So if you want to make these for a party, pot luck, or barbeque (or if you just want some extra large rice crispy treats..) I recommend the recipe doubled! [Read more...]

Cheesecake Bars

Finished cheesecake

Like usual I am late to the holiday posting party. But that’s alright, because this recipe is tasty for anytime of the year.

I was originally inspired to make organic cheesecake bars from the summer berry stack that we sell at work. But the summer berry stack is heavy, and overly sweet. And definitely not organic. With it being summer/bathing suit season I figured I needed to lighten these up a bit. Not everyone wants a cheesecake bar the size of a slice of cheesecake.

I decided to make my cheesecake bars thin, and swirled them with two different berry purees. To, you know, give them vitamins and make them healthy…

I used organic raspberry and blueberry puree to make my bars festive. But don’t be scared, you can use what ever fruit is in season or no fruit at all. These cheesecake bars are very versatile.
